I have a heat pump water heater. It is a Bradford White 50 gallon heat pump water heater model BWRE2H50S10. We have not had any problems so far. Works great. It is in the basement. It cost about $3500 (though I'm expecting a tax credit to cover part of it). I had it installed in Jan 2023 (as that is when the tax credits increased). 

 

I would do it again. VT Energy Contracting installed it. Took less than a day and no complaints/problems. If your electrical panel is already maxed out, that would add to the complexity and cost, but otherwise it is quite straightforward.
